Ever wonder what it’s like to work at Tandem? In this series, we’re taking a peek into the everyday life of Tandem’s product designers and software engineers.
6 a.m.
I wake up around 6 every day. I usually have my coffee first thing. I snoozed my alarm for my “morning run”… maybe one day I’ll actually do it.
Today, I found my kids already up. Sent them to get dressed. Drank my coffee and scrolled through news and social media on my phone. I check my calendar so I know if I have any super early meetings and to plan my day in my head.
8:30 a.m.
I start work at 8:30: I check email, Slack messages and my calendar. I begin by putting together some work samples for a potential client. Then I’m putting together a staffing chart for the design team.
10 a.m.
Chris and I are meeting about design staffing, marketing projects, and the overall forecast for the next few months. I’m also creating a shareable list of the marketing projects that are coming up.
Noon
It’s time for our full-company Lightning Rounds. I’m going to run an errand at lunch today, so maybe I’ll pick up food from somewhere on my way back (I end up having coffee #2 and a salad).
1 p.m.
I have a 1:1 with one of my direct reports today. We’re catching up on his work and his personal project. He’s also helping to summarize some of our process documentation, which we have a meeting about later today.
3 p.m.
I’m working on that process documentation. I have some catch-up to do and some new topic areas to start writing. It’s definitely time for coffee #3.
4 p.m.
I usually wrap up about 4 and at least take a break. I can always come back to my office later if there is something else I want to work on.
After Work
After the kids are done with school they have a snack. I’ll prepare dinner and help with homework if they have it. Today was a pretty typical day!
