The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has offices in more than 90 cities in 50 countries and has more than 16,000 employees, 900 partners, and 20,000 alumni. BCG partners with clients in solving the hardest problems challenging their businesses.
One area in which BCG works with customers is in the area of organizational transformation and change management –specifically in helping them tackle large reorganizations, mergers, and divestitures. These engagements are highly complex and can involve moving thousands of employees around within the organization. Historically, keeping track of these changes in spreadsheets and modeling their financial impact was incredibly difficult.
Tandem worked with BCG to design a sophisticated web application that would help their consultants streamline this work. Our team engaged in a user research process to fully understand the complex workflows and data architecture necessary to support an engagements of this size. And, we tested UX prototypes with users to ensure we were delivering an intuitive and complete solution.
The OrgBuilder tool has helped reduce the overall overhead and timeline of organizational transformation engagements and improved the quality of the deliverables. The tool is now widely used within several BCG practices.
