Caleb Jackson

Tandem Alum

In 2020, Caleb's dad went through a coding bootcamp for military veterans. He asked Caleb for help, thinking his expertise as a chemistry tutor meant that he knew how to code — in Caleb's words, "Not exactly, dad!" However, Caleb did support his dad's learning and ended up inspired to look into coding bootcamps for himself. Caleb had two criteria: the bootcamp needed to be remote, and it needed to demonstrate they were interested in diversifying the tech community. He found Thinkful, whose core values matched his own. After graduating from bootcamp, Caleb started as an apprentice at Tandem. He has worked with tools and frameworks like React, TypeScript, Jest, and Ruby/Ruby on Rails, and is passionate about accessibility in tech. To further his skills, Caleb contributes to open source projects involving biochemistry. His dream project is to build processes that help biochemists. Caleb is known for his enthusiasm to learn, collaborative nature, and ability to maintain optimism in times of stress. When diving into challenges, he's an analytical thinker, so you can count on him to plan 10 steps before taking 1 step. Outside of work, Caleb is a member of the Out In Tech community and attends events with the QTPOC group to discuss being out in the workplace. He also loves to read and is always looking for new recommendations!
