Janice Cho

Head of Design

Janice is a designer + artist who leads the design discipline at Tandem. With her background in Visual Arts and Human Development, she is always looking at the interaction of objects - whether they are digital, physical, or somewhere in between. Starting her career in marketing/advertising, Janice shifted her trajectory while attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she focused on how new and innovative interventions are created while using the Human Centered Design process. She has since practiced these methods in non-profit spaces, for-profit businesses, and hybrid organizations. Janice strongly believes that innovative ideas are born when humans intersect, not only in their knowledge, but more importantly, in their emotional intelligence. Janice is a published artist and her work has also been shown in spaces internationally. She utilizes the different mediums she challenges herself with as a means to better understand how new ideas are born and applies physical product principles to digital products on a regular basis. Outside of the office, you can find her teaching letterpress classes at Spudnik Press, apprenticing with yoga teachers, watering her many species of plants, and reading books.
